Patients implanted with medical devices such as pacemakers should be cautious when using the iPhone 12. This is because there have been reports that the iPhone 12 affects the operation of some implantable medical devices.

McRumers reported on the 23rd (local time) that Apple recently updated a supporting document warning that the iPhone 12 and MagSafe should not be placed too close to a pacemaker or defibrillator that can respond to magnets and radio.

In a recent report, the Heart Rhyth Journal pointed out that the iPhone 12 model could “potentially inhibit patient life-saving treatments” due to self-interference with implantable medical devices. Reportedly, three Michigan doctors tested the interaction between the iPhone 12 and implantable medical devices. Doctors brought the iPhone 12 closer to the patient’s implantable CPR, and the medical devices immediately went into a’stop’ state.

A few days after the report came out, Apple claimed that the iPhone 12 added magnets over its predecessor, but that it did not increase the risk.

Apple’s updated document emphasizes that if you continue to use the iPhone 12, it should be used at least 6 inches (about 15 cm) from the implanted medical device. In particular, it warns that if the iPhone is charging wirelessly, it should be spaced at least 1 foot (about 30 cm).

Normal use of the iPhone is fine. However, users with implantable medical devices Putting your phone in your coat or shirt pocket can be a problem. Whether you’re sitting on a sofa or lying on a bed, or putting your iPhone on your chest can be a problem.
