Hyundai Motor Company’s first exclusive electric car’Ioniq 5’has appeared. The era of a true electric car made by applying’E-GMP’, a platform exclusively for electric vehicles, has come to an end, rather than an electric car modified from internal combustion engine vehicles such as Kona.

On the 23rd, Hyundai Motor Company released the Ioniq 5 to the world. Although it is the size of a Tucson class vehicle, it has achieved a’space revolution’ by securing a 3,000 mm shaft distance longer than the Palisade (2,900 mm), like a dedicated platform-based model. With one charge, it can travel up to 430㎞ (based on domestic authentication method), and 80% of the battery capacity is filled within 18 minutes with 350㎾ class super-fast charging.

Ioniq 5, which will be mass-produced at the Ulsan plant from next month, will be released in the US in the second half of the year following Europe in March and Korea in the second quarter. Hyundai’s goal is to sell 70,000 units this year and 100,000 units a year starting next year. Excluding the Tesla Model 3, which sold 300,000 units worldwide, there is no known pure electric car with 100,000 units sold.

Hyundai Motor Company will make advance reservations for domestic consumers from the 25th. The price is in the early-mid 50 million won range for each model, and if subsidies and tax benefits are reflected, the actual purchase price is expected to be in the high 30 million won range.
