It is highly likely that Tesla will take over subsidies for electric vehicles this year.

The sales price of the new model Y and the 2021 Model 3 were set in line with the full subsidy. In particular, the Model 3 showed an unprecedented appearance by lowering the selling price by about 5 million won.

Hyundai Motor Company’s Ioniq 5 is selected as an anti-competitive horse to stop soloism. The expectation is full of the fact that the first dedicated platform has been applied and has several advantages such as a long driving distance and fast charging speed.

When it is released at the 50 million won range, where the subsidy can be fully supported, it is expected to be able to put a partial brake on Tesla’s solo.

Hyundai Motor Company will unveil the world’s first Ioniq 5 through online on the 23rd.

Ioniq 5 is the first vehicle to apply E-GMP, a platform exclusively for electric vehicles of Hyundai Motor Group. The domestic release is scheduled for April following Europe in March.

On the 15th, Ioniq 5 interior was first revealed, raising expectations.

According to the released video, Hyundai Motor has removed the indoor tunnel part, which was the structural limitation of the internal combustion locomotive in Ioniq 5. In addition,’Universal Island’, a console that can move back and forth, was applied.

The long mileage and fast charging speed are the biggest advantages of this model.

The IONIC 5 can drive 500km or more on a single charge. In addition, it is equipped with an 800V charging system and can be charged to 80% within 18 minutes using an ultra-fast fast charger.

As strengths are sufficient, the key seems to be price.

Earlier, on the 12th, Tesla officially launched the mid-sized electric SUV’Model Y’in Korea and disclosed the selling price. We set the standard range from KRW 59.99 million, the ΔLong range from KRW 69.9 million, and the ΔPerformance from KRW 79.99 million.

Model 3 for 2021 was also available from ΔStandard Range Plus from 54.79 million won, ΔLong Range from 5999 million won, and ΔPerformance from 74.79 million won. In particular, in the case of the long-range model, the previous price (64.79 million won) was lowered by 4.8 million won.

Tesla’s pricing policy was greatly influenced by the government’s reorganization of subsidies for electric vehicles this year.

The Ministry of Environment reorganized the subsidy this year, so that only electric vehicles under 60 million won can receive the full subsidy.

Vehicles of 60 million to 90 million won are differentially applied at a rate of 40 to 60 percent for each vehicle in consideration of efficiency such as fuel consumption and driving distance, based on 50%, and high-priced electric vehicles over 90 million won are not allowed to receive subsidies.

As Tesla lowered the prices of Model Y and Model 3 in accordance with this year’s subsidy reform plan, Hyundai Motor’s concerns grew even more.

It is known that they are considering offering them at a lower price than Model Y under the judgment that they can be pushed out of the brand power at a similar price point.

An industry insider said, “Tesla made a super strong push to lower the price first in order to dominate the domestic market.” said.
