Ionic 5, EV6 hit… The fire fell on the foot of Hyundai Motor Company’s Kia

Hyundai Motor Group, which has unveiled new exclusive electric vehicle models such as’Ionic 5’and’EV6′ one after another, is striving to secure electric vehicle charging facilities.

On the 11th, Kia signed an investment and use contract with GS Caltex to install ultra-fast chargers to expand electric vehicle charging facilities.

This collaboration is about Kia’s investment in the installation of ultra-fast electric vehicle chargers at GS Caltex’s gas stations and reinforcing benefits for Kia electric car customers who use chargers. Earlier in January, Hyundai Motor Company opened the Korea’s first private electric vehicle charging station’EV Station Gangdong’ at SK gas station in Gil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. Kia is investing in installing a total of eight chargers, including one 350kW class fast charger and seven 200kW class fast chargers at four GS Caltex gas stations in the metropolitan area, including Seoul, Incheon, Suwon, and Guri. GS Caltex is in charge of charger operation and management, and plans to start charging service in the first half of this year.

With this collaboration, Kia will build an ultra-fast charging facility to increase the convenience of electric vehicle customers, and GS Caltex will secure new electric vehicle charging customers. In particular, the EV6 of Kia EV6, which will be released this month, is equipped with an 800V charging system based on the EV-specific platform’E-GMP’, and can be charged up to 80% in 18 minutes using an ultra-fast 350kW charger. Kia plans to hold various events such as discounting EV6 customers when charging electric vehicles at GS Caltex gas stations nationwide or providing free charging coupons.

The Hyundai Motor Group will further work on converting the existing gas station into an electric vehicle charging station within this year. Apart from this, it is also working to secure a total of 120 units by deploying 6 ultra-fast chargers each in 20 places including 8 major city centers across the country, including Euljiro, Seoul, and 12 highway rest areas.
