The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Japanese government are also making every effort to host the Tokyo Olympics as scheduled for the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) pandemic.

On the 22nd (Korean time), the IOC held a video conference with representatives of each National Olympic Committee (NOC) on whether to hold the Tokyo Olympics.

According to an official from the Korea Sports Association on the 23rd, the Japanese sports minister directly contacted the meeting held for more than two hours the previous day, and the report on the cancellation of the Tokyo Olympics was fake news. He also stressed that the IOC and Japan are making every effort to host the Tokyo Olympics.

David Shoemaker, Secretary General of the Canadian Olympic Committee, also informed his social media about the meeting, saying, “The IOC is in a position to hold the Tokyo Olympics.”

This conference received a lot of attention as to whether it was held as the spread of Corona 19 in Japan continued.

In particular, foreign media reports that the Japanese government internally concluded to cancel the Tokyo Olympics received more attention. Britain’s’The Times’ cited a senior official from the Japanese ruling party coalition who requested anonymity, and reported that it had concluded an internal decision to cancel the Tokyo Olympics.

According to Japan’s support news agency, Deputy Minister of Defense Sakai Manabu (Vice Minister), a deputy spokesman for the Japanese government, dismissed the report at a regular briefing on the same day, saying, “There is no such thing. I will cut it off and deny it.”

However, the “second person” of the Japanese cabinet, Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso and Finance Minister, did not affirm or deny the report.

Deputy Prime Minister Aso reacted, saying, “I don’t know who’s speaking, so I won’t comment.”

To date, the IOC is confident in hosting the Olympics. According to foreign media such as AFP, IOC Chairman Thomas Bach said on the 21st, “There is no reason at this stage to think that (Tokyo Olympics) will not start in July. Therefore, there is no Plan B.” Denied.

The IOC will hold a meeting with the IOC members on the 21st and NOC representatives on the 22nd, and the video conference with the representatives of the International Federation (IF) on the 25th. President Cho Jung-won, who leads the World Taekwondo Federation, also attends.
