In the case of the death of a 3-year-old Gumi girl, the police belatedly started reinforcing the investigative manpower. Although the birth mother, who was known as the maternal grandmother, was confirmed as a result of the genetic test, the charges were denied, and the whereabouts of the child who was supposed to have been replaced became obscure, and the investigation fell into a standstill.

On the 22nd, the Gyeongbuk Police Agency put seven teams of violent criminal investigations into the scene to resolve the death case of a 3-year-old girl in Gumi. In cooperation with the Gumi Police Department, the violent criminal investigation team will focus on confirming the whereabouts of another 3-year-old girl, which is believed to have been replaced with a dead girl, and the identity of the father of the deceased child, which has not been revealed so far.

Previously, the National Institute for Scientific Investigation confirmed that the mother of the dead girl was Mr. A (48, arrested) through four DNA tests. However, after being arrested by the police, Mr. A is known to continue to repeat claims that he has never had a child.

In response, the police have not been able to secure conclusive evidence that can reverse Mr. A’s claims, such as obstetrics and gynecology medical records other than the genetic test results. Another 3-year-old girl who is believed to have been replaced by Mr. A has not been confirmed. In the course of the investigation, it was further revealed that Mr. A tried to abandon the girl who died, but only tried to abandon it. A police official said, “We are conducting investigations from various angles to clarify the substance of the case.”

Earlier, on the 10th of last month, the police began an investigation after a 3-year-old girl was found dead in a villa in Gumi. At the time, the police arrested Mr. B (22), known as his mother, on charges of murder and violation of the Child Welfare Act (children neglect). However, a genetic test result that came about a month after the incident revealed that the mother of the girl who died was Mr. A, the mother of Mr. B.
