The police are looking to see if there has been a habitual neglect of a 3-year-old girl by her mother who was discovered while walking outside the house in underwear in a cold wave.

According to the Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul on the 10th, the police are investigating the situation that her mother A (26) often left her daughter B alone at home. It is reported that Mr. A is currently raising Ms. B alone without a husband.

Ms. B was discovered by a passerby wearing underwear at a convenience store about 100m away from her house at 5:40 pm on the 8th. It was investigated that Ms. B was alone for about nine hours after A went to work and was unable to enter the door locked while leaving the house for a while. On the day Ms. B was discovered, a strong cold with a minimum temperature of -18.6 degrees Celsius hit Seoul.

Upon receiving a report from a passerby, the police mobilized together with officials from an agency specializing in child protection (Abojeon) to check the houses of A and B. At the time, their homes were not properly cleaned.

However, this is the first time that a report of suspected abuse of Miss B has been received by the police and Abo. A police official said, “There was no evidence of abuse such as bruises or wounds on Ms. B’s body.”

Currently, Ms. B has been separated from her relatives’ house. The police are conducting further investigations against reporters and witnesses. In addition, it is reported that they plan to secure Ms. B’s statement in consultation with related agencies such as Abojeon or the ward office and proceed with consultation if necessary.
