(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Cho Jae-young = The government is investing a total of KRW 311.2 billion to support solar power facilities in buildings this year.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 4th that the ‘2021 New Renewable Energy Supply Support Project’ was announced and received applications. This year’s business has increased by 12% from last year.

When new and renewable energy facilities are installed for self-consumption in single-family houses, shopping centers, factories, etc., KRW 144.3 billion was allocated to projects that support 50% of the installation cost. Considering the factory or distribution warehouse, the building’s solar power subsidy support capacity was also increased from 50kW to 200kW.

In order to accelerate the commercialization of products developed through national research and development (R&D) projects, support will be expanded up to 70% for facilities to which new technologies such as pilot supply projects or integrated solar power in buildings are applied.

KRW 167.7 billion will be invested in convergence support and regional support projects.

Convergence Support is a project to distribute two or more types of renewable energy sources such as solar, solar, and geothermal energy to houses, shopping malls, and public institutions and distribute them to the village level, and supports installation costs.

Local support is a project that supports installation of new and renewable energy facilities in buildings and facilities owned or managed by local governments. After receiving the application and evaluating it, the government finally selects a local government or consortium to carry out the two projects in September.

The Ministry of Industry said that a total of 295MW of new and renewable energy facilities will be supplied for this year’s business, and through this, it is expected to reduce electricity bills of 58 billion won and reduce carbon dioxide by 170,000 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) per year.
