Invest 151.1 billion won in climate and environmental R&D next year… ‘2050 Carbon Neutral Support’

Ministry of Science and Technology, new promotion of energy efficiency improvement technology and future hydrogen source technology development

In order to support the realization of the ‘2050 Carbon Neutral Promotion Strategy’, the government will invest 151.1 billion won in climate and environment R&D for next year, 12.9% more than this year.

On the 30th, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Information and Communication confirmed the ‘2021 Climate and Environment R&D Project Implementation Plan’, which included’energy efficiency improvement technology development’ and’future hydrogen source technology development’, which responded to the climate change crisis, and started the project in earnest. It is said that it will be promoted.

Investment in climate and environment research and development for next year will increase by 17.88 billion won (12.9%) from 132.8 billion won this year to 1573 billion won. The Ministry of Science and Technology plans to announce and promote all 30 new projects (approximately 8.5 billion won) within the first quarter.

The implementation plan included △ energy efficiency improvement technology development △ hydrogen and fuel cell source technology development △ carbon storage/conversion technology development and empirical research △ renewable energy source technology development.

In the energy efficiency improvement technology development sector, 7.2 billion won will be invested in the new project of’energy efficiency improvement technology development’ and 3.6 billion won in’energy cloud technology development’.

In the development of the source technology for hydrogen and fuel cells, KRW 14.1 billion for the existing’hydrogen energy innovative technology development’ project that studies low-temperature water electrolysis and chemical storage, and 3.3 billion KRW for next-generation green hydrogen research such as high-temperature water electrolysis, photolysis, and pyrolysis are newly supported. In addition, 11.4 billion won will be provided for the development of key element technologies related to fuel cells.

For carbon storage and conversion technology development and demonstration research, 21 billion won for the’C1 Gas Refinery’ project, 11.5 billion won for the’Carbon to X technology development for the production of useful substances’, 9.8 billion won for the’Next Generation Carbon Resource Technology Development’ project, and ‘ It will invest 4.3 billion won, etc. for the’carbon resource conversion using plasma’ project.

In the field of renewable energy source technology development, a total of 34.6 billion won for climate change response technology development projects such as solar cells, bio energy, and secondary batteries, 6.8 billion won for’climate change impact minimization technology development’, and’climate technology cooperation to support climate change response in developing countries. We support 600 million won for the’Foundation Creation’ project.

In addition, we provided 7.5 billion won to strengthen the three-dimensional observation of fine dust using the Cheonrian 2B, the process of generating fine dust through international joint research among researchers from Northeast Asian countries, and the identification of physical and chemical characteristics, and clarify the cause of each major source and demonstrate technology for reduction KRW 18 billion is provided to

Kim Bong-soo, the Basic Source Research Policy Officer of the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, “To support the realization of ‘2050 carbon neutrality’, we will establish a’carbon-neutral R&D strategy’ in March next year, and plan new R&D projects, etc.,” he said. /Union
