On this day, the US West Texas Crude Oil (WTI) futures for March delivery fell by $0.44 (0.75%) compared to the previous trading day to $58.24 per barrel. The April product of Brent oil produced in North Sea fell 0.26 USD (0.42%) to USD 61.21 per barrel.

WTI stopped the rally for 8 trading days and Brent oil for 9 consecutive trading days and fell.

Although there was no particular bad news for the oil price to fall, it is analyzed that the breathtaking pattern continued due to the surge. In addition, the difference in temperature difference between the OPEC and the International Energy Agency (IEA) also held back the rise in oil prices.

According to Reuters, oil prices fell as OPEC announced that the emergence of a new coronavirus strain reduced the likelihood of a rapid demand recovery.

OPEC said global oil demand in 2021 will recover more slowly than previously thought, but while the IEA is still surpassing demand, the IEA predicts that global crude oil stocks will shrink rapidly this year.

Through the report, OPEC adjusted its forecast for oil production growth this year for non-member oil producers to 700,000 barrels per day, down 200,000 barrels per day. OPEC also lowered its crude oil demand forecast this year to 96.1 million barrels per day from the previous forecast.

Meanwhile, international gold prices also fell for the first time in five trading days. Gold for April delivery on the New York Merchandise Exchange closed at $1826.80, down 0.9% ($15.90) per ounce.
