Ministry of Industry, 100 companies promoting business reorganization this year for digital-green transition

[세종=아시아경제 권해영 기자] The government approved business reorganization plans of 16 companies in new business fields, including future cars, to foster new growth engines in the industry. The government plans to promote business reorganization of 100 companies this year in order to revitalize the digital-green transition.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the 29th Project Reorganization Plan Deliberation Committee at the Coal Center on the 11th and approved a total of 16 companies’ business restructuring plans.

The government has been operating the Enterprise Vitalization Act Business Reorganization System since 2016 to prevent enormous costs from post-restructuring by supporting the preemptive and voluntary business reorganization of normal companies. A total of 166 companies have been approved for business reorganization over the past five years. Companies approved for business restructuring are provided with incentives in various fields such as simplified procedures under the Commercial Act and Fair Trade Act, deferred regulation, finance, taxation, employment, and research and development (R&D) as conditions for promoting restructuring and business innovation.

Of the 16 companies that were approved for business reorganization that day, 14 are in the internal combustion car industry. In particular, four joint business reorganizations were approved for the first time in the automobile industry, in which a purchasing company and a supplier company promoted business reorganization. These include Yura Tech, Sambo Motors, NTM, and GMB Korea. The Ministry of Industry expected that the innovation of the Korean automobile industry, which aims for digital and green transformation, will further accelerate by applying for business reorganization from internal combustion vehicles to future vehicles such as hydrogen and electric vehicles. The 16 companies plan to invest a total of 400 billion won in promising new industries such as future cars over the next five years and hire 12,000 new people.

An official from the Ministry of Industry said, “We will actively support the digital-green transformation business reorganization, and promote the joint business reorganization system that shares and reduces the risk of business reorganization by actively supporting the business reorganization between the purchasing companies and the suppliers.” “We plan to intensively promote business reorganization of 100 companies this year through promotional activities.
