The police’s agile response, which was stopped by a patrol car after passing a vehicle running backwards on the road, saved an unconscious elderly driver from danger.

According to the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station on the 23rd, at 10:36 am on the 21st, a report was received at 112 that the driver had lost consciousness on a road in Songdo International City, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon.

A (67, female) urgently picked up a mobile phone when her husband B (73, male), who was driving a carnival car at the time, lost her mind.

Fortunately, the vehicle was stopped on one side of the road, and Mr. A came out and asked for help from nearby pedestrians.

At that time, Mr. B, who was left alone in the driver’s seat, started driving, unconsciously, and stopped only after rushing over the curb and rushing into the silver grass field.

After receiving the report, the police and the fire department decided that Mr. B was unable to open the door on his own, and discussed how to rescue him from the locked vehicle.

Meanwhile, B’s’unconscious driving’ started again, and a dizzying situation arose.

The car in the silver grass field slowly started to move and headed to the road, but this time it turned and started running in reverse.

Director Im Jae-chan of Songdo District University who was at the scene hurriedly got on the patrol car and chased the carnival car.

The reverse driving vehicle was running slowly, but only about 100m left to enter the intersection, and it was a dangerous situation because Mr. B did not know when to speed up.

Firefighters ran from side to side and knocked on the window, but the vehicle seldom stopped.

After catching the steering wheel, Director Lim sounded a noisy siren, alerting the oncoming cars that it was an emergency, and ran about 200m ahead of Mr. B’s vehicle.

Director Lim stepped on the brakes as it was, and the carnival car stopped with a thumping sound.

He could only breathe a sigh of relief after he confirmed that the vehicle had completely stopped.

Director Lim said, “I was embarrassed at the moment because of a sudden situation, but I only thought I had to stop it before it could lead to a bigger accident.”

He added, “Any police officer in a similar situation would have acted like me,” he added, adding, “I am grateful for my role in the situation at the time.”

B, who was rescued safely, was transferred to the hospital by 119 paramedics and treated.

Mr. B, who had an underlying disease, was confirmed to have been driving in a state of poor performance due to an instantaneous deterioration in his health at the time.

It is known that Mr. B’s family contacted the Songdo district after the accident and expressed their gratitude for preventing further traffic accidents.

“I think I will be able to live in public office with more confidence from this job,” said Director Lim. “I am fortunate that Mr. B received treatment safely.”
