The National Tax Service plans to investigate the tax evasion of 3,700 rental housing units that violate public obligations. It is the subject of focus investigation on whether registered rental business owners with rental houses have violated various requirements set by law. Registered rental business owners are receiving various benefits, such as the exclusion of the total rental housing (comprehensive real estate tax), the exclusion of multi-homeowners (transfer income tax), and reduction of small housing rental business owners (rental income tax) under conditions of complying with the “restriction on the increase in rent”.

In November of last year, the National Tax Service analyzed high-priced and multi-household rental companies (rental housing business owners with a standard market price exceeding 900 million won or those with three or more houses) to verify 3,000 people who are suspected of reporting infidelity.

The National Tax Service plans to perform additional tax verification if necessary and handle it strictly according to laws and principles. However, cases that have been revised by the taxpayer or previously collected by the National Tax Service are excluded from the investigation.

The National Tax Service said, “We will thoroughly verify whether rental business owners who violate their public obligations are exempt from tax, and further strengthen cooperation with related organizations,” and said, “We will implement process cleaning in a strict response to real estate tax evasion.”
