At a farewell ceremony organized by the staff, Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who finished 27 years of prosecutors’ life, said, “I’m sorry for not being able to finish my term together, and I regret it.”

General Yoon appeared in the lobby on the 1st floor of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office in Seocho-dong, Seoul, around 5:50 pm on the 4th. Yoon, who announced that he would resign at 2 pm on the same day, is known to have finished the remaining work in the office of the great swordsman throughout the afternoon. At 4 pm, I met with Lee Jong-yup, president of the Korean Bar Association.

After finishing work, General Yoon came down to the lobby on the first floor of the Great Sword at around 5:50 pm. In the lobby, great swordsmen staff gathered to farewell General Yun. At this meeting, President Yoon revealed to his employees about his last departure from work.

General Yoon said, “I want to thank all of you who helped and supported me to lead the prosecution in this building anyway,” said “I am very sorry to go out first without finishing my term with you, and I am sorry and apologetic to you.” Said.

“I hope you understand that it was an inevitable choice,” he said. “Thank you and be healthy.” After receiving a bouquet prepared by the staff, President Yoon shook hands with the staff and left the lobby on the first floor. The farewell ceremony took less than a minute.

When asked about the feelings of reporters on the way home from the prosecutor’s life before getting into the car, President Yoon said, “I judged well when people came in and left, so I had a lot of shortcomings during my 27 years of public service, but I think I worked without regrets with the help of many people.” Answered. He did not answer the question that asked President Moon’s feelings about his resignation in an hour.

In this way, as Yoon leaves Seocho-dong, interest is focused on who will be the successor to the prosecutor general.

The person who is ranked first in the legal profession as the next prosecutor general is Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office Lee Seong-yoon (59, 23rd Judicial Research and Training Institute). Prosecutor Lee was appointed to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office in January last year after being promoted to the prosecutor’s office after the inauguration of President Moon Jae-in’s Kyung Hee University law school, and after the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in administration.

Later, in the process of prosecuting the Open Democratic Party leader Choi Kang-wook (former Cheong Wa Dae secretary of public service at the Blue House), a “passing controversy” arose when reporting to the Ministry of Justice without reporting to President Yoon. It has become a representative pro-government figure, such as delaying approval.

However, since the investigation related to the’Illegal Withdrawal Case of Kim Hak’ is on the subject of an investigation in connection with the ruthless suspicion, it is expected that if the prosecutor’s office becomes the head of the prosecution, there will be severe internal opposition at the prosecution.

In particular, since Kim Hak’s case was relocated to the airlift, the prosecutor-general of the district attorney would become the prosecutor-general, and the president would become a suspect in the airlifter’s 1st case.

In addition, Deputy Chief of the Great Swordsman Cho Nam-gwan (56/24), who will act as the president for the time being, is also mentioned as a successor. He had experience working at the Blue House as an administrator in the Office of the Assessing Secretary during the days of former President Roh Moo-hyun. In the days of the Moon Jae-in administration, Deputy Deputy General Cho was promoted to chief prosecutor after serving as head of the TF team for clearing the red waste as the head of the National Intelligence Service’s inspection office. After serving as the chief prosecutor of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office and the Seoul East District Prosecutor’s Office, Mi-ae Chu was the former Attorney General of the Ministry of Justice, and was classified as’Chu Line’.
After that, he was appointed as the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, but expressed his willingness to protest, saying, “Please withdraw the discipline” in the case of the exclusion and disciplinary request of President Yoon last year. When Yun returned to the great swordsman due to a court decision, she personally went to the front door of the great swordsman to greet Yun.

The Ministry of Justice is also expected to speed up the work of the successor. The Prosecutor General Candidate Recommendation Committee is formed to recommend candidates for the Prosecutor General, and a total of three candidates are recommended to the Minister of Justice after receiving appropriate persons from the public. Accordingly, when the Minister of Justice proposes appointing one out of three members to the President, they are appointed through a personnel hearing.

Earlier on this day, President Yoon made clear his opposition to the establishment of the heavy water office and expressed his appreciation. Accordingly, President Moon accepted his resignation in about an hour.
