Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Sung Yun-mo visited Shinsung ENG, a solar module manufacturing company in Gimje on the 12th, and promised to support the carbon-neutral project.

Shinsung ENG established a 700 megawatt (MW) module manufacturing plant in the Gimje Free Trade Zone in December to proactively respond to the expansion of the domestic and overseas solar power market in April of last year. Starting this year, it has been producing the world’s best high-power (440-530W class) modules in earnest.

Minister Seong’s visit to the site was prepared to inspect the domestic solar module production site before specifying policy tasks for carbon neutrality, and to encourage corporate officials who made new investments despite difficulties such as Corona 19.

Currently, major countries around the world are expanding investments in eco-friendly markets such as renewable energy to respond to climate change. The Korean government is also expanding the supply of renewable energy through the announcement of the Green New Deal and the declaration of carbon neutrality.

In addition, through the policy-type New Deal Fund and the green guarantee system, which will be launched in earnest from this year, the company plans to provide necessary funds for facility investment and M&A in the domestic renewable industry.

Minister Seong said, “As global competition for the renewable energy industry is fierce, it is the most important time to make preemptive and bold investment in the industry.” “For successful promotion of carbon neutrality, the domestic renewable energy industry ecosystem needs to be supported. As much as that, the government will actively support investments in the industry.”
