Manufacturing loans are reduced

[천지일보=김누리 기자] In the fourth quarter of last year, the re-proliferation of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) and the reinforcement of social distancing led to a continued increase in loans as business difficulties continued at companies.

According to the Bank of Korea’s’Loans by Industry for Deposit Handling Organizations in the 4th Quarter of 2020′ released on the 3rd, the balance of loans by industry as of the end of the fourth quarter of last year was 1393 trillion won, an increase of 27 trillion won compared to the previous quarter.

Earlier, in the first quarter and the second quarter, the increase was 51.4 trillion won and 69 trillion won, respectively, recording a record high for the second consecutive quarter. In the third quarter, the increase decreased to 37.8 trillion won and further decreased in the fourth quarter.

However, compared with the same period of the previous year, it increased by 24 trillion won, recording an increase of 15.4%. It is the largest increase in history in the fourth quarter of each year. This is analyzed as the cumulative effect of the demand for loan funds from the corona crisis last year.

Loans for the service industry increased by 28.700 billion won from the previous quarter. This was similar to the increase in the third quarter (28.900 billion won), but the increase compared to the same period last year was the highest ever.

The service industry’s loans increased and decreased to 7.3 trillion won and 7.5 trillion won for real estate and wholesale and retail businesses, respectively, by industry. On the other hand, the growth in the financial and insurance business and the accommodation and restaurant business increased to 5.4 trillion won and 2.3 trillion won, exceeding the increase in the third quarter.

Manufacturing loans decreased by 2.2 trillion won from the end of the previous quarter. This was given by loans as the number of corona confirmed cases increased in the fourth quarter and the demand for facility funds increased, the manufacturing industry slightly recovered, and repayments were made to manage the financial ratio at the end of the year.

By loan use, the increase in working capital loans (10,700 billion won) decreased from the third quarter (24.400 billion won), while the increase in facility fund loans (1.4 trillion won) was larger than the previous quarter (17 trillion won).

Facility financing loans increased by 17 trillion won compared to the previous quarter in the second quarter of last year, and then decreased to 1.3 trillion won in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, it increased again by 17 trillion won.

By institution that gave loans, deposit banks rose from 2,400 billion won to 12,600 billion won, and non-bank deposit handling institutions saw their loan growth decrease from the previous quarter to 15 trillion from 17.300 billion won.

Among the loans from deposit banks in the fourth quarter, the increase in corporate company loans was 2.2 trillion won, which was significantly reduced from the previous quarter (11.300 billion won). The increase in loans from non-incorporated companies (individual business owners, etc.) was aggregated to 1.4 trillion won, which rose from the previous quarter (9.1 trillion won).
