[아시아경제 임철영 기자] Maharashtra, western India, with major cities such as Mumbai and Pune, is considering a full blockade against the spread of Corona 19.

According to local media such as Times of India on the 3rd (local time), Prime Minister Udav Takerai Maharashtra said on the previous day, “If the current situation continues and residents do not reduce their activities, a full blockade can be issued within a few days.” Mentioned.

This means that it will completely prevent going out and moving around by strengthening the measures for night activities in some areas. India imposed a blockade nationwide in March of last year as the number of corona19 confirmed cases surged. Today, daily life is possible except in some areas.

Prime Minister Takerai said, “I am concerned about the current situation,” and warned, “If this condition persists, the health infrastructure could face a shortage within 15-20 days.”

The number of new confirmed cases in India was 89129 as of the morning of the 3rd, nearly 10 times higher than in February. In particular, more than half of the new confirmed cases are from Maharashtra. If this trend continues, there is an analysis that there is a possibility of surpassing 9,7894, the highest in September last year. On the other hand, the vaccination rate is only 5% of the total population.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases in India on that day was 12,392,260, the third largest after the United States and Brazil.
