India, AstraZeneca, and other vaccines are about to be used urgently…

AstraZeneca recommends urgent use of two vaccines
Large-scale vaccination begins after CDSCO’s official announcement

The emergency use of the COVID-19 vaccine is imminent in India, a country with a population of 1.3 billion.

According to major foreign media such as Reuters and Times of India on the 3rd (local time), the Indian government recommended urgent use of the vaccine developed by the Indian pharmaceutical company Barat Biotech and the state-run Indian Medical Research Council. It is the second time after the COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Oxford University at a panel meeting of experts on pharmaceutical authorities on the 1st.

The final decision on the emergency use of these two vaccines will be officially announced by the chairman of the Central Pharmaceutical Standards Management Organization (CDSCO) in India at a press conference on the same day. After final approval for urgent use, large-scale vaccinations will begin in India as early as next week.

AstraZeneca vaccine can be stored and delivered at a normal refrigerator temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, so there is no need for a’cold chain’ that maintains the temperature during distribution like other vaccines. The price is expected to be set at around $4 (about 4,400 won), which is the level of 10 minutes of other vaccines, which is considered advantageous for dissemination in developing countries.

Little is known about the clinical outcomes of the Baratbiotech vaccine, except that it was formulated in a traditional way using inactivated viruses. However, it is known that it is effective against the Corona 19 mutant virus from the UK. Earlier, Chairman of Biotech Krishna Ella Barat said, “Corona 19 was expected to have many mutant viruses,” and “Our vaccine using inactivated viruses has a mutant virus protection function.”

When the spread of the corona vaccine in full-scale in India, the world’s second largest population, will lay the foundation for mass vaccination to suppress Corona 19. India plans to give priority to 300 million people out of the total population of 1.35 billion by the first half of this year.

Currently, Indian health authorities are conducting vaccination simulation training across the country and are preparing for storage and transportation of the vaccine. Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India said that “data entry on an online platform that confirms vaccine distribution and cold storage and transport testing of the vaccine are being conducted.”

According to the international statistics site World Omometer, 10,32,4631 people have been infected with Corona 19 so far in India, the second largest number in the world. The cumulative death toll reached 149471.
