Increased support for early scrapping of old diesel vehicles to a maximum of 6 million won

The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced on the 4th that they have decided to increase the maximum amount of subsidies paid for early scrapping of old diesel vehicles from the previous maximum of 3 million won to 6 million won. The target of early scrapping of old diesel vehicles this year is 340,000. Local governments across the country are planning to announce plans for early scrapping support projects starting on the 5th.

The target vehicle for this support plan is an old diesel vehicle with a grade 5 emission of less than 3.5 tons in total weight. This applies to diesel vehicles to which the’emission gas rating calculation standard’ was applied before July 2002. Among these, vehicles that cannot be equipped with a smoke-reducing device can receive up to 6 million won in support for vehicles that cannot be equipped with a vehicle that cannot be equipped with a livelihood type or business vehicle, etc.

Specifically, if a vehicle that meets this condition is scrapped early, 70% (4.2 million won) of the subsidy will be provided, and the remaining 30% (1.8 million won) will be received when purchasing a vehicle other than a diesel vehicle. Even if the newly purchased vehicle is a used vehicle, 30% subsidies will be received for emission grades 1~2 (electricity, hydrogen, hybrid, gasoline, LPG, etc.).

However, even for a class 5 vehicle, ▶ vehicles that can be equipped with a smoke reduction device ▶ vehicles that are not for livelihood or business use ▶ vehicles that are not owned by small business owners, etc. You will receive a maximum of 2.1 million won for scrapped cars, and up to 900,000 won for subsequent purchases.

The Ministry of Environment expects this reorganization to reduce the rate of repurchasing diesel vehicles and improve the air environment. Early car scrapping subsidies can be applied to local governments and Korea Automobile Environment Association by mail, fax, or on the automobile emission grade website (emissiongrade.mecar.or.kr).
