The government will increase the share of new and renewable energy generation by 25.8% by 2034, making it the main energy source.

On the 29th, the government held a new and renewable energy policy council (Chairman of the Ministry of Industry, Energy Resources Division) and confirmed the ‘5th Basic Plan for New and Renewable Energy Technology Development, Utilization and Distribution (Basic New and Renewable Energy Plan).

According to the Ministry of Industry, the new and renewable energy basic plan is scheduled for 2020 to 2034, which is the same as the 9th basic power supply and demand plan, and the target of the proportion of new and renewable energy generation in 2034 is 25.8% (renewable 22.2%) in line with the 9th supply and demand plan. , The new 3.6%).

In the 9th supply and demand plan, the government decided to build a new and renewable energy (business + private use) facility capacity of 82.2GW (84.4GW in the case of biohonso) in 2034.

In addition, by supplementing the contents of the power system, renewable energy demand, and new energy (hydrogen), it was decided to systematically prepare the system contribution and market system beyond the supply-oriented new and renewable energy policy.

In addition, the government decided to prepare for carbon neutrality in 2050 by proactively suggesting the response direction of the new and renewable energy sector in this plan.
