[이투뉴스] Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 Incheon Airport T1 hydrogen charging station opens on the 4th. Following the completion of the construction of the Expressway Shintanjin Service Area, Chuncheon Service Area, and Pyeongtaek Paengseong Hydrogen Charging Station, it will be officially opened in January after a pilot operation.

Hydrogen Energy Network (Hinet) will operate 10 hydrogen charging stations together with 6 charging stations including the existing National Assembly and the Government Complex Sejong once these 4 hydrogen charging stations enter operation.

In particular, when the hydrogen charging station is completed in Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport, the introduction and operation of a hydrogen shuttle bus, an eco-friendly means of transportation, will become possible, helping to spread the image of a leading eco-friendly country to foreigners visiting Korea from abroad. The hydrogen shuttle bus will be charged at Incheon Airport’s T1 hydrogen charging station, and will consist of routes that pass through Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2), long-term parking lot and distribution complex, and cargo terminal station. The hydrogen charging station is open 24/7 and operates 14 hours a day from 8 am to 10 pm.

In the first half of next year, an additional T2 hydrogen charging station at Incheon International Airport is scheduled to be built. The T2 hydrogen charging station is a bus-only hydrogen charging station that supplies an average of 1000kg of hydrogen per day to charge 40 hydrogen buses. Incheon Airport Corporation plans to quickly convert into an eco-friendly airport by introducing hydrogen shuttle buses and commercial hydrogen electric vehicles along with the successive opening of hydrogen charging stations.

In addition, the Pyeongtaek Paengseong hydrogen charging station is built on the site of SK Energy’s gas station and LPG charging station, and is a complex hydrogen charging station operated by SK Energy, which is expected to greatly improve the charging convenience of hydrogen car customers near Pyeongtaek. Operating hours are 6 days a week, and it is scheduled to operate 12 hours a day from 8 am to 8 pm.

The hydrogen charging station that Hinet builds at the highway rest area is also speeding up. The highway rest area hydrogen charging stations that are currently preparing for completion are the Shintanjin Rest Area (toward Seoul) and the Chuncheon Rest Area (toward Busan). The hydrogen charging station built at the highway rest area is a complex charging station operated by a service provider operating a gas station or an LPG charging station within the service area provided by the Road Corporation and will be operated by Hinet.

The hydrogen charging stations at Shintanjin Service Area and Chuncheon Service Area will not only improve the convenience of long-distance driving for hydrogen car customers, but also support charging for nearby hydrogen car customers. In particular, the Chuncheon Service Area is expected to relieve some of the grievances of local drivers who are experiencing great discomfort due to the lack of hydrogen charging stations in Gangwon-do. In the case of a passenger car, an average of 60 units can be charged per day, and 5 units per Nexo can be charged per hour, and the charging time takes about 3-6 minutes per unit. The selling price of hydrogen is 8800 won per kg.
