Large-capacity hydrogen refueling stations will be built in Incheon and Ulsan for the introduction of large 10-ton trucks.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 25th that it has selected Ulsan City and Incheon City as local governments to implement this year’s large-capacity hydrogen charging station construction project.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has held a public offering for three weeks starting from the 7th of last month, targeting regional and basic municipalities nationwide. Two institutions were selected by comprehensively evaluating the feasibility of the project, location conditions, and facility utilization and operation plans.

The project cost of the hydrogen charging station construction project is 5.7 billion won per site, and the financial resources are provided at a 7 to 3 ratio of national and local expenses.

The construction of a hydrogen charging station is the first charging station necessary to promote a pilot project for a hydrogen truck, and is the first start of operation of a hydrogen-based logistics network in the future.

The cities of Ulsan and Incheon, which were selected as business operators, plan to build a hydrogen charging station within the year by designating a truck rest area as a site.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will establish a cooperative system with local governments and participating organizations so that the hydrogen truck charging station construction project can be carried out without disruption. In the future, it plans to gradually expand the construction scale of the hydrogen freight vehicle charging station based on industry demand and the progress of the pilot project.

Logistics Policy Manager Kim Bae-sung said, “The conversion of hydrogen trucks is a field that has a great environmental effect and is a must-go for the sustainable development of the logistics industry.” Ⓒ Safe Times
