According to the police, at about 8:5 pm on the 10th, at a bituminous coal storage company in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex in Jeollanam-do, A (33) was caught in an accident at a coal transport. The fire department put 15 rescuers on the site and took Mr. A out of the facility at around 10:30 pm, but was transferred to the hospital with cardiac arrest.

Mr. A had an accident while working in pairs with one coworker belonging to a partner company. The police are grasping the details of the accident, including compliance with safety regulations against the company. In the workplace, a non-regular worker in her 40s crashed to the floor about 3m below an operating conveyor platform in August 2018 and died.

The Severe Accidents Enterprise Penalty Act, passed by the National Assembly on the 8th, requires that in the event of an accident in which a worker dies because a company does not fulfill its duty to prevent industrial accidents, the management manager is imprisoned for more than one year or a fine of not more than 1 billion won. Corporations and institutions are also fined up to 5 billion won.
