With about 1,000 new coronavirus infections (Corona 19) patients coming out every day, the severely ill bed was shared. Accidents leading to death due to not being assigned a bed are also one after another. As of the 21st, only 31 severely ill patients were left in the country. In this situation, there is a doctor who presented a total of 119 beds, including critically ill beds. Kim Bu-seop (photo) is the president of Hyundai Hospital in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do.

Dedicated hospital voluntary service, 119 beds provided
Purchased 1.3 billion worth of intensive care equipment
On the 17th, the Central Accident Recovery Headquarters (Jungsubon) additionally designated Hyundai Hospital as a dedicated hospital for the Corona 19 base. It is the first among private general hospitals in northern Gyeonggi Province. Hyundai Hospital has a total of 375 beds, and more than 500 employees, including 240 medical staff including specialists (67) and nurses (173), work.
Hyundai Hospital plans to open 10 intensive care beds on the 26th and complete construction by January 15th next year to provide a total of 119 beds, including 25 intensive care beds, 18 subcritical care beds, and 76 mild patients. In particular, facilities are being expanded to allow kidney dialysis in negative pressure isolation rooms. In a phone call with JoongAng Ilbo on the 21st, Director Kim Bu-seop said, “I sent patients to Mokpo and Andong because there was no place for the patient to power over for more than two days.”
Hyundai Hospital has already treated Corona 19 patients since last March. In particular, for the treatment of severely ill patients with Corona 19, medical equipment such as 15 ventilators was also purchased at 1.3 billion won. Director Kim explained, “Since the 2nd pandemic in August, if we couldn’t send the patient to another place, we prepared it with the mind that we were in charge.”
There were voices from dissatisfaction with’I should do this like this’ and worrying about hospital losses, but the staff followed Director Kim’s decision. “The loss problem is not a problem at all,” he said. He added, “We have also prepared five studios for employees with elderly parents,” he said. “If the medical staff and staff are safe from infection, patients can also receive them, and we will provide maximum support for supportable areas such as protective equipment.”
The biggest obstacle to arranging additional beds is manpower. The hospital has requested additional personnel for the heavy water supply. Director Kim said, “We also recruited additional respiratory internal medicine staff next month.” “Our medical staff have been training for the past 10 months, but on the contrary, the accumulation of fatigue is severe. The equipment was provided at the hospital, but skilled medical personnel to treat severe corona19 patients This is desperate.”
