After the activity, it is planned to analyze the amount of waste discharged and propose a reduction plan

According to the Cheongju Upcycling Citizens Center on the 27th, the center selected 100 residents of Cheongju and is conducting a ‘100-day garbage reduction experiment’ from the 1st to the next February. Participants record the amount of trash generated, such as general trash and recyclables, in activity reports by date, and share their own trash reduction secrets through social network service (SNS).

Prior to the activity, the center handed out a reference book to the participants introducing ways to reduce waste. They also gave me a scale to measure the weight of the garbage and a separate bin. The center decided to propose an idea to reduce waste to Cheongju City based on the three-month activity report.

‘Upcycling’ (upcycling) is a resource recycling method that adds design and practicality to unused or discarded objects. The Cheongju New Recycling Citizen Center, which opened last November, is educating kindergarten and elementary, middle, and high school students the value and method of resource recycling. From the beginning of its opening, the corporate judicial corporation Full Dream Environment Foundation has been in charge of operation.

Yeom-woo, director of the Recycling Citizen Center, said, “Due to Corona 19, the demand for delivery has increased and the amount of parcels has increased. I proposed a 100-day experiment to collect practical examples in life.”

In the 100-day garbage reduction experiment, 119 people participated, including 99’Citizen Life Experiment Group’ composed of ordinary citizens and 20’Practice Support Group’ that helps citizen participants’ activities. By generation, it was divided into 7 people in their 20s and under, 9 in their 30s, 39 in their 40s, 32 in their 50s, and 12 in their 60s and above. By housing type, there are 4 multi-family housing (one-room, etc.), 7 detached houses, 3 row houses, and 85 apartments. “We selected the experimental group evenly by generation and number of singers,” said Oh Soon-wan, secretary of the Upcycling Citizen Center.

The experiment proceeds in three stages. In December, garbage is discharged as usual, and in January, 100 practical methods suggested by the center and voluntary garbage reduction activities are carried out. In February, they experiment to reduce garbage as much as possible by applying their own know-how.

The social network service that participants communicate with is hot with the enthusiasm for ways to reduce waste. On the bulletin board, participants who put meat in a side dish container at a butcher shop, participants who reduced food delivery and challenged’Eat the refrigerator (cooking with ingredients left in the refrigerator)’, participants who made a wire box with tissue paper, and a wooden box left behind at home. Various ideas are coming out, such as participants making a frame with a frame.

Shin Oh-young (43), a member of the Action Support Group, said, “Even though we announced that we can dispose of garbage as usual in December, we are constantly sharing ways to reduce garbage.” There is” he said.
