Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong’s trial on the alleged illegal succession of management rights will resume on the 11th of next month.

According to the court on the 24th, Part 25-2 of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Agreement (Deputy Judge Dr. Park Jeong-je and Kwon Seong-su) was tried twice for 11 people, including Vice Chairman Lee, who was handed over to trial for violations of laws on capital markets and financial investment business. The preparation date was set at 2pm on March 11.

The trial on this day is the first trial to be held after the replacement of the court. On the 18th, the members of the 25-2 of the criminal agreement were replaced by Judges Park Jeong-je, Dr. All of them are the vice-president judge.

Since the accused is not obligated to attend the trial, Vice-Chairman Lee is not expected to attend. On the first trial preparation date in October last year, the prosecution requested a prompt hearing, while Vice-Chairman Lee confronted the need for time to review the records. It is expected that the two sides will collide over the issue of the adoption of evidence and the inspection of investigation records on this trial preparation date.

Vice-Chairman Lee is under suspicion of fraudulent transactions, market price control, and business negligence under the Capital Market Act. In addition, he is also accused of violating the external audit law for committing an accounting corruption of Samsung Biologics in order to cover up illegal mergers with former vice chairman Choi Ji-sung, former president Kim Jong-joong, and Samsung Biologics representative Kim Tae-han.
