[아시아경제 강주희 기자] A Swedish woman abandoned her husband and went with her two-year-old son to an Islamic extremist terrorist organization, an Islamic State (IS) occupied area, and eventually went to jail. The woman also gave birth to two daughters after marrying an IS member.

According to foreign sources on the 8th (local time), in August 2014, a woman in her 30s who lived in the port city of Lanskrona in southern Sweden told her husband, “I will spend a vacation in Turkey with my son,” and then travel. I got on the road and passed through Syria to the IS-occupied territory.

About three years later, in 2017, when the Allied forces attacked IS, Mr. A was captured by Kurdish forces while fleeing to Turkey from Lakka, northern Syria, the capital of the IS. At the time of arrest, Mr. A had not only a son brought from Sweden, but also two daughters born to an IS crew from Tunisia.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. A, who was a Palestinian Swede, married an IS crew member one month after arriving at an IS-occupied area, and reported this to his social network service (SNS).

After arriving in Turkey, Mr. A was repatriated to Sweden, and the Swedish court said of Mr. A, “Considering various facts, Mr. A had no intention of returning to his original home. He judged that he was exposed,” and sentenced him to three years in prison.

Mr. A insisted in the court that “I went to Syria with the intention of coming to visit the IS-occupied area for a few days to see something,” but the court did not accept it.
