25 newspapers and Yonhap News, which expressed the title of’Suk-yeol Yoon’, etc., were sanctioned by the Korea Newspaper Ethics Committee, without taking into account the approval rate within the margin of error in the poll report on the approval rate of the presidential elections including Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol. This is the reason for violating the full text of Article 4 of the Newspaper Ethics Code,’Report and Review,’ and Article 3 of the Newspaper Ethics Practice Guide.
The Newspaper Ethics Committee held a meeting on the 9th, and 14 reports from the Joongang Daily, including “First No. 1 in the presidential candidate approval rating” on page 1 of the Munhwa Ilbo on the 11th of last month, and on page 3 of the Gangwon-do Min Ilbo on the 12th of last month, “No. 1 in public opinion for presidential elections. 11 reports in local newspapers such as “Glance”, Yonhap News’ article on the 11th of last month, “Suk-yeol Yoon is the first in the approval rating of the president… ‘Because of the defeat of Lee Nak-yeon and Lee Jae-myeong’

According to the Newspaper Ethics Committee’s operating regulations, sanctions are divided into caution, warning, public warning, correction, apology, and warning of the ethics committee against those involved.
Sanctioned places were Munhwa Ilbo, Yonhap News, Herald Economy, Kyunghyang Shinmun, Kookmin Ilbo, Dong-A Ilbo, Maeil Business Daily, Money Today, Seoul Economy, Segye Ilbo, Seoul Shinmun, Chosun Ilbo, JoongAng Ilbo, Hankyoreh, Korea Economy, Gangwon-do The Min Ilbo, Gyeonggi Ilbo, Gyeongbuk Ilbo, Gyeongsang Ilbo, Gyeongin Ilbo, Kukje Daily, Daejeon Ilbo, Maeil Newspaper, Busan Ilbo, Joongbu Daily, and Jungbu Ilbo.
All of these articles reported that as a result of the’next presidential candidate approval rating’ survey conducted by Hangil Research as a request for Cookie News, the approval ratings were 24.7% Yoon Seok-yeol, 22.2% Lee Nak-yeon, and 18.4% Lee Jae-myeong (±3.1%P at the confidence level of 95% sample error). .
It is pointed out that although it was difficult to see that the ranking was clearly hidden because the difference in the approval ratings of Yoon Seok-Yeol, Lee Nak-Yeon, Lee Nak-Yeon and Lee Jae-myeong were within the sample error range, they ranked in the articles and used expressions such as’Seok-Yeol Yoon’ for a large or small title.

The Newspaper Ethics Committee said, “If the approval rating or preference is within the margin of error, it violates the election poll reporting rule that reports that it is’contested’ or’is within the margin of error’ without ranking or ranking.”
The Ethics Committee said, “Since the ranking was specified by arbitrarily interpreting the results of public opinion polls within the range of errors, it also violated the newspaper code of ethics, which stipulated that the entire facts were reported accurately and fairly. It can undermine reliability.”
