On the 23rd, Hyundai Motor Group introduced the ultra-fast charging brand’E-pit’. It is an ultra-fast system charging station that can charge up to 80% of an electric vehicle equipped with an 800V charging system within 18 minutes. Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 23rd, “If you use the E-pit charging station, you can charge at a maximum speed of 350kW while the remaining battery is less than 50%,” and “You can run 100km by charging in just 5 minutes.”

Currently, the electric vehicle charging station with the fastest charging speed is Tesla’s exclusive’supercharger’ and can be charged at a maximum speed of 120kW when the remaining battery capacity is less than 50%. Hyundai’s E-pit is three times faster than Tesla’s charging speed.

In the middle of next month, Hyundai Motor Company plans to install 72 E-pits at 12 highway rest areas nationwide and introduce 48 units sequentially at 8 charging stations in the city. Vehicles equipped with an exclusive platform for electric vehicles of Hyundai Motor Group such as Hyundai Motor Company Ioniq 5, which was released last month, and Kia EV6, which will be released in July, will be equipped with 800V charging system.

In the E-pit, charging can be done simply by connecting the charging connector. This is because authentication and payment are possible without a credit card by applying a’digital wallet’ using an application. In addition, Hyundai Motor Company plans to introduce a service called’Digital Queue’, a system for issuing app wait tickets, in order to prevent disputes between waiting people when the car is full.

A representative of Hyundai Motors said, “From this year, we will promote the development of the charging ecosystem platform in earnest. We will contribute to the development of a virtuous cycle in the domestic charging infrastructure industry by creating future businesses and innovative products in the electric vehicle era.
