Coupang provides free stock worth 100 billion won to field workers and daily workers in charge of delivery and logistics. Considering that there are about 50,000 employees currently in office, it is worth 2 million won per person.

Coupang announced on the 17th that it has decided to give stocks free of charge until March 5th to daily workers who switch to regular workers. Stocks worth 100 billion won are given to coupang’s field workers. This includes not only regular on-site workers, but also daily jobs that convert to regular jobs.

The stocks that employees will receive are stocks that are subject to transfer restrictions, and they can receive 50% for one year of work and the other half for two years. The target number of employees is about 3,000, and may be closed early depending on the employment status of each distribution center.

In a conversation with the consumer economy on the 17th, Coupang PR team said, “This measure is an extension of Coupang’s continuing policy to encourage permanent workers.” “To encourage employees who played a pivotal role in the growth of Coupang and share the fruits of growth, We decided to provide stocks for free to all of us.” He added, “It will be an opportunity to reaffirm that the growth of the company and the growth of employees go hand in hand with this free stock offering.”

Coupang announced on the 15th that it will distribute 100 billion won worth of stock to Coupang delivery staff (Coupangman, Kuchin) and regular employees at the distribution center before listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

From before, Coupang has continuously suggested switching to full-time for all daily workers. Coupang explained that the inducement of conversion to full-time employees through this free stock grant is to provide stable working conditions for workers through direct employment and full-time employment, and to increase the coupang settlement rate.

Coupang has been leading the improvement of working standards for on-site employees. Unlike the general courier industry’s business method operated through outsourcing services, Coupang has been hiring directly from 2014, and since 2015, a separate manpower dedicated to sorting work has been put in, and now 4,400 dedicated personnel are helping to relieve the burden of delivery drivers.

In 2016, it introduced five days a week, and from 2018, it introduced 52 hours. Since 2020, it has been providing differentiated benefits such as remote health counseling service, a 20 billion won welfare fund, and the opening of a daycare center.
