ICT exports increased for 8 consecutive months… Exports of semiconductors, displays, and mobile phones↑-Maeil Economy

The Ministry of Science, ICT and ICT announced on the 10th that in January, the export of information and communication technology (ICT) was $16.3 billion, the amount of imports was $10.74 billion, and the trade balance was estimated to be a surplus of $5.55 billion.

Exports increased 21.7% compared to the same month last year, continuing the trend of increasing for eight consecutive months.

Among all the exports in January, it was the second highest after 2018 ($1.69 billion).

The average daily export value of $720 million increased 16.3% from $620 million in the same month last year.

By item, exports of semiconductors (20.5%↑), displays (32.1%↑), and mobile phones (76.3%↑) increased.

In particular, as demand for semiconductors continued to increase, exports of memory (24.9%↑) and system semiconductors (16.0%) increased.

In the display sector, exports of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED 52.1%↑) and LCD (10.5%↑) increased simultaneously as liquid crystal device (LCD) unit prices rose and mobile demand increased.

In the mobile phone sector, exports of finished products (87.4%↑) and parts (71.5%↑) increased due to the launch of new smartphones.

Exports by country were $7.41 billion to China, $2.95 billion to Vietnam, $1.9 billion to the US, $900 million to the European Union, and $340 million to Japan.

ICT exports of small and medium-sized companies were $3.98 billion, up 19.5% from the same month last year.

By item, exports of semiconductors (23.1%↑) and electrical equipment (6.1%↑) increased, and exports of computers and peripheral devices (10.4%↓) decreased.

SME ICT exports were $1.54 billion, up 16% from the same month last year.

Exports of electrical equipment (7.5%↑), connection parts (21.6%↑), and printed circuit boards (PCB·95.8%↑) led the increase.

In January, ICT revenue was $10.74 billion, an increase of 21.7% from the same month last year.

By item, imports of semiconductors (21.0%↑), mobile phones (38.2%↑), and computers and peripheral devices (31.3%↑) increased, and imports of displays (12.9%↓) decreased.

By country, imports from China (1.6%↑), Taiwan (26.3%↑), Vietnam (23.6%↑), Japan (33.1%↑), and the United States (10.9%↑) increased, while imports from the European Union increased by 6.7. % Decreased.

In January, the ICT trade balance recorded a surplus of $5.55 billion, showing a surplus in semiconductors (4.22 billion dollars), displays (1.81 billion dollars), and mobile phones (110 million dollars).
