I have 800 million legs… Can’t cars and people walk?

Leaving’Cliff Bridge’ for about two and a half years after completion

In Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, there is a bridge with one side falling like a cliff. It is said that the bridge used by the car was removed and made like this. Of course, there are very few people who can’t drive and use the car. 800 million won was spent on this project organized by LH.

Reporter Baek Min-kyung reported on why this happened.

The legs are wide enough for two large cars to pass.

However, there are sculptures and cars are not allowed to travel because they are blocked by a pedestrian path.

I came to the other side.

They are as tall as a person from the ground, so you have to use stairs.

It was completed and quite a bit of time, but few people use it.

Only trash is piled up on one side.

It hasn’t been long since the stairs were built like this.

When it was completed in 2017, it was a’cliff’ bridge that neither people nor cars could move around.

[A씨/주변 공장 직원 : (보행로도) 없었어요. 억지로 만든 거예요. (그러면) 아무것도 없었어요. (절벽처럼?) 네.]

I had to cross a bridge with a simple ladder made of iron pipes or wood.

[사다리 놓고, 나무 합판 같은 거 놓고 다니고. 자전거 타고 오다 떨어진 사람도 있었어요. 난간이 없었으니까.]

It has been in this state for more than two years after completion, and it wasn’t until March last year that the stairs were built.

However, even now, workers in neighboring factories call it ‘monsters.’

It means that you can’t drive around, and it’s ambiguous for people to cross.

Originally, this bridge was the iron bridge used by cars.

However, while building the logistics complex, the iron bridge was demolished and a new bridge was built with 800 million won.

LH, who supervised the construction, explained that because of the flood level in the river, the bridge had to be raised, and it was impossible to provide a roadway due to the terrain.

It was explained that it took time to reach an agreement with nearby residents to prevent vehicle traffic from leaving the bridge as a’climb’ for many years.
