An online community posted an eyewitness account that a restaurant in Jinhae-gu, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, reused food that a customer had eaten. Jinhae-gu Office is planning to close the restaurant.

On the 17th, an online community posted an article explaining in detail his experiences along with a receipt from the restaurant, saying, “I am posting this because I think that you should not do business with a house like this.”

According to author A, he visited a restaurant in Jinhae-gu around 10 pm on the 11th. The restaurant employee asked, “Would you like to add Gon-i (egg)?” Mr. A and the party replied that they would do so. Then the employee said that he took the konyi out of the two-person pot and put it in a large pot and boiled it.

Ms. A was suspicious and looked at the kitchen after another table customer left, and the restaurant staff poured the leftover food into a pot and added broth to boil it again. Mr. A claims that when he protested, “is it rehearsing?”, the restaurant employee denied, “I boiled it for dog food.”

The problem didn’t end there. Mr. A said, “The next day I was talking to the restaurant owner and laughing and saying I was sorry, but I was so angry.” The restaurant employee said, “I’ll give you 200,000 won for the medicine, so let’s go over it.” Rather, he was angry, Mr. A said.

Mr. A reported to the restaurant, saying, “I am reproached even if I reheat side dishes in Corona City, but I was so angry that I ate the main food and the food waste left by others.”

On the 19th, the Cultural Hygiene Division of Jinhae-gu Office said, “We have confirmed the violation of the Food Sanitation Act,” and “we are planning to suspend business.” An official from Jinhae-gu Office explained that even if the employee did something in the absence of the restaurant owner, the business suspension cannot be avoided. If food reuse is caught, business suspension may be imprisoned for 15 days or up to 3 years, or fined up to 30 million won.

On the 8th, a scene where Kkakdugi was reused at a pork soup restaurant in Busan became controversial as it spread through live broadcast on Africa TV. Dong-gu, Busan, launched an investigation on the same day and suspended business for 15 days. Also, from the 11th, Busan City began a major crackdown on the reuse of side dishes by local restaurants, centering on 750 pork soup restaurants.
