It was argued that a zoo in Gachang-myeon, Dalseong-gun, Daegu City, ran into operational difficulties due to a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) and neglected animals.

The animal protection group Beagle Rescue Network (hereinafter referred to as the Beagle Rescue Network) disclosed the zoo’s operating status through social network service (SNS) on the 2nd.

Due to poor management, the animals’ feces were left unattended or icicles appeared in the cage. The windows were also messy, so the inside was not visible, and the feed was not provided in time, so animals were seen digging here and there in search of food.

The zoo, which went into temporary closure last year, moved many animals to nearby zoos, but stopped operating, leaving animals such as monkeys, camels, raccoons, sheep, goats, and geese unable to move.

The Bhikkhu said, “Since the park was closed, the zoo has not properly supplied water and feed with almost neglected wild animals such as camels and raccoons, and other farm animals such as sheep, goats and geese, including four internationally endangered animals. I did not” he pointed out.

“The rabbits, sheep, and goats that were left unmanaged in the nearby hills caused complaints around them, and as it became difficult to properly rear and manage them, it seems that they were hung on their necks and killed cruelly.” I have been caring for these animals for over 10 months with my family.”

The Bhigok Association plans to request the Daegu City and Daegu Regional Environmental Office to investigate the facts related to animal abuse. Daegu City is planning to take measures in accordance with relevant laws when animal abuse is confirmed through on-site inspection.
