At 2 pm on the 26th, President Moon called the names of the 2nd Yeonpyeong Naval War veterans and the soldiers aboard the Cheonan at a ceremony to celebrate the West Sea Protection Day held in the 2nd Fleet of the Navy.

“The Navy has decided yesterday that the new frigate will be named’Cheonan’ from 2023. It will become the main frigate of the Navy with powerful domestic weapons such as Haegeung, Red Shark, Sea Dragon, and Blue Shark.” Told.

The newly created’Cheonan’ is a 2800t class frigate. The Blue House explained that it gave it this name in “meaning to inherit the sublime spirit of the warriors of Cheonan.”

President Moon said, “I would like to express my gratitude and consolation to the surviving soldiers of the Cheonan, including former Captain Choi Won-il and the surviving family members who have longed for and supported the resurrection of the’Cheonan’ more than anyone else.”

The sixth day of the West Sea Protection Day this year is an event to commemorate the soldiers of the ROK soldiers who died in the ‘2nd Yeonpyeong Sea Battle’,’Attacked by Cheonan’ and’The Yeonpyeong Island Artillery Provocation’, and to strengthen the will to protect the Korean Peninsula and the country with the people All.

Prior to the commemoration ceremony, President Moon visited the Jeonjeok Monument of the 2nd Yeonpyeong Naval Battle to commemorate the souls of the dead.

After the commemoration ceremony, a wreath was made at a memorial to the 46th soldier of the Cheonan and patrolled the hull of the Cheonan.
