“I am grateful for making a mark” A transgender who gave up enrollment in Sookmyung commemorates the former Sergeant Byun Hee-soo.

Han Joo-yeon (pseudonym), a transgender who gave up last year in the School of Law at Sookmyung Women’s University, who gave up due to the backlash of some students, said that in commemoration of former army sergeant Byun Hee-soo, hatred and discrimination against LGBTI people should be stopped.

Han is on the 4th <한겨레>In a text interview with Sergeant Byeon, he heard the news of Sergeant Byun and wrote, “The helplessness that he did not do anything deeply crushed my heart,” and said, “I was sad that I had lost my acquaintances, and I was angry with the world that made him difficult.” Mr. Han often contacted Sergeant Byeon to share “If it’s special, it will be special, but he just endured his life.”

Mr. Han also expressed his gratitude for the past sergeant Byeon’s past battles with the military, who revealed his identity to society and made an unfair decision to force the evacuation. Mr. Han said, “A journey to make a path with patience through a series of truly tedious procedures, a series of processes in which one has to take out his pain and bring it out. I am just grateful for making that mark.” In November 2019, Sergeant Byeon, who had undergone sex reassignment surgery, was judged to have a mental and physical disability, and then referred it to the discharge review committee, and in January of last year, it was decided to be discharged forcibly. Since then, Sergeant Byun filed a personnel complaint with the Army Headquarters saying that the decision to discharge was unfair over the past year and continued administrative litigation.

Mr. Han said, “I miss the face that smiled brightly, the smile that healed someone’s heart, and that warm heart.” “I wish a world without sadness, spread my wings and fly freely,” he commemorated Sergeant Byeon.

He said we must stop unreasonable hatred and discrimination against LGBT people. Mr. Han said, “’I am like you.’ Discrimination without reason has no choice but to stab themselves by no reason. “I want those who cry for the freedom to hate to know that hate will not only kill others, but will eventually harm themselves.”
