Hyundai Motor’s’Ionic 5’sales boom

-23,760 domestic vehicles… Explosive customer response in a day of pre-contract
-Recorded the highest number of pre-contracts in both domestic and electric vehicle models
-A global reputation for innovative, timeless electric vehicle design

[코리아포스트 한글판 이미경기자] Hyundai Motor Company’s first dedicated electric vehicle’Ioniq 5’has set a new record in the history of Korean automobiles.

Electric vehicles surpassed the number of pre-contracted vehicles with internal combustion engines for the first time, while recording the highest number of pre-contracted vehicles among domestic automobile models.

Hyundai Motor Company announced that the number of contracts on the first day of the Ioniq 5, which entered into a pre-contract from the 25th (Thursday) through branches nationwide, recorded 23,760 units.

This is a whopping 6,466 units of the 6th-generation Grandeur Facelift (partial change) that was released in November 2019, exceeding the number of pre-contracted units of 17,294 units on the first day of Hyundai’s record.

With this, Ioniq 5 has become a model with the largest number of pre-contract records (first day) in both domestic and electric vehicle models, and has established itself as an innovative mobility that will lead the EV era.

The new record achieved by IONIQ 5 is expected to be a milestone in the popularization of electric vehicles, with the proportion of electric vehicle sales in Korea being about 2.5% last year.

A Hyundai Motor Company official said, “The reason why Ionic 5 was able to get an explosive response from customers in one day was that it responded to the needs and expectations of customers for the first exclusive electric vehicle for Hyundai Motor Company, which will provide a whole new experience with innovative design and advanced technology.” Explained.

IONIQ 5, first unveiled on the 23rd (Tue), is receiving a lot of praise from global media and customers for its unique and innovative design and excellent technologies that will provide a new electric vehicle experience.

Motortrend, an American automobile magazine, said, “It is not a rendered image or a concept car image, so there is no need to adjust the screen brightness.” “I’ll open it,” he said, giving a good evaluation of the design of the IONIQ 5.

Autocar, a British automobile magazine, said, “The parametric pixels applied to the headlights and taillights, which were never seen in existing Hyundai cars, are unique” and “the clean straight line is attractive.”

US online car media Motor1 said, “The longer wheelbase is impressive than the large SUV, the Palisade”. The parts made of recycled materials are different,” he commented on the interior space.

Global customers also showed positive reviews and expectations for Ioniq 5.

European customers said, “The 400/800V multi-fast charging system and the V2L function are the most anticipated and want to experience.” The US customer said, “The 3m long wheelbase is incredible and I think that the inside of the car can be used as a variety of spaces.” Expressed expectations.

A domestic customer said, “I haven’t thought of buying an electric car, but I want to buy the Ioniq 5”, and “It’s amazing to be able to move the seat freely and I’m satisfied with the spacious interior space.”

The domestic pre-contract for Ioniq 5 is for two long-range models, and the price is 5,200 to 52.5 million won for the basic trim (exclusive) and 5,700 to 57.5 million won for the premium trim (prestige). (Before electric vehicle tax benefit, based on 3.5% individual consumption tax)

If the individual consumption tax benefits applied to electric vehicles (up to 3 million won) and purchase subsidy (12 million won, based on Seoul City) are reflected, it is expected that the basic long range trim can be purchased at the end of the 30 million won range.

Customers who have signed a pre-contract will be given the benefit of installing an indoor V2L, a custom item, for free to 500 people through a lottery. (※ External V2L is provided as standard)

The Vehicle To Load (V2L) function is a key element in which Ioniq 5 provides customers with a new electrification experience and a moving energy source. This function supplies general power (220V) to the outside of the vehicle so that home appliances and electronic devices can be used without restrictions in various external environments such as outdoor activities or camping places.

Meanwhile, on the first day of the pre-contract, Hyundai Motor Company unveiled a TV commercial that shows the new technology and experience of the IONIQ 5.

With the theme of’a new era of mobility full of the first experience’, this video, which expresses a journey to a new world through a flight concept, is a total of 4 episodes, and the remaining 3 episodes will be aired later.
