Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 9th that its major affiliates (Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Hyundai Mobis) plan to raise the amount of investment for the establishment of UAM-related corporations. The exact amount will be announced separately in the electronic disclosure system of the Financial Supervisory Service.
It is known that the new chief technology officer (CTO) of Hyundai Motor’s UAM division will be responsible for leading the UAM subsidiary. The timing of incorporation was not specifically set.
CTO Dierchin is formerly the Chief Executive Officer of the aerospace industry startup Opener based in California. Hyundai Motor Company directly recruited Dyerchin CTO on the 24th of last month.
Dyerchin CTO served as Chief Executive Officer and Senior Technician at Scaled Composites, which develops and manufactures innovative aircraft and spacecraft.
Dierchin is a talented person with 20 years of experience in aerospace-related technology development, and has also developed 16 aircraft, including SpaceShipOne, the first civilian manned spacecraft, and BlackFly, a personal electric aircraft.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to focus on the development of the UAM industry using Korea and the United States.
