From next month, exclusive electric vehicles will be released one after another… ‘Walking car’ transforming robot is also revealed

The Hyundai Motor Group has been accelerating the future mobility business since the beginning of this year.
According to the industry on the 14th, Hyundai Motor Group is planning to introduce Kia CV (project name) and Genesis JW (project name) one after another, starting with the first dedicated electric vehicle Ioniq 5 to be released in Europe next month.
Dedicated electric vehicles based on E-GMP, Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, can travel up to 500 km or more on a single charge, allowing them to travel from Seoul to Busan at once. In addition, it is equipped with an 800V charging system, so it can charge 80% within 18 minutes when using a super fast charger.
Hyundai Motor Company plans to release a total of 12 electric vehicles by 2025 and sell 560,000 units per year, increasing the proportion of electric vehicle sales in the global market by 10%. The goal is to achieve 8-10% of the global electric vehicle market share by 2040.
Kia plans to launch 7 exclusive electric vehicles by 2026, build a full lineup of 11 electric vehicles, and sell 1.6 million eco-friendly vehicles annually by 2030.
At the end of last year, Hyundai Motor Group, which announced that it will acquire Boston Dynamics, famous for its’robot dog’, recently unveiled the walking car’TIGER’ for the first time through its YouTube.
Developed by New Horizons Studio, an organization in charge of future mobility under the group, Tiger is a transforming robot that can move freely even in rough terrain while walking with four legs and wheels.
Tiger uses the walking ability of a robotic leg when traversing uneven terrain or over obstacles, and transforms into a four-wheel drive vehicle by tucking the leg inward on flat terrain. It is still experimental, but when mass-produced, it is expected that it will be possible to carry emergency supplies to remote areas or remote locations, or to conduct scientific exploration and research using sensors and instrument panels.
It is also spurring the development of autonomous driving technology.
‘Motional’, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor Group and Aptiv, plans to provide a fully autonomous vehicle-based robotaxi service in major regions of the United States from 2023.
On the other hand, in relation to the theory of cooperation for autonomous electric vehicles with Apple, which has recently attracted attention, Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 8th that “We are not in consultation with Apple on the development of self-driving vehicles.”
In the industry, discussions with Apple have been temporarily suspended, but there is a possibility that negotiations with Apple will resume in the future. Reporter Kim Ji-eun
