[서울=뉴스핌] Reporter Ki-rak Kim = Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun will visit Singapore as early as next week. This is the first overseas business trip since taking office in October last year.

According to the automobile industry on the 20th, Chairman Chung visits Singapore early next week to check the progress of Hyundai Motor Group’s Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS), which started last year.

In October last year, the groundbreaking ceremony for HMGICS was held by connecting Korea and Singapore online, but Chairman Chung, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Sung Yun-mo, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Shen-long attended online.

HMGICS is an open innovation base for the Hyundai Motor Group to study and demonstrate the entire value chain of the customer’s automobile life cycle, from car ordering to production, test drive, delivery, and service in order to present a new mobility paradigm.

With the goal of completion by the end of 2022, HMGICS will be built in Singapore’s Jurong Innovation Complex with a land area of 44,000 m2 (130,000 pyeong), a total floor area of 90,000 m2 (270,000 pyeong) and 7 stories above ground.

HMGICS will install a’Sky Track’ for customer test rides with a total length of 620m for high-speed driving on the roof of a building, an urban aviation mobility (UAM) takeoff and a solar panel for eco-friendly energy production. In the future, it plans to expand the use of clean energy without carbon dioxide emissions through hydrogen fuel cells.

The interior of the building is composed of various customer experience facilities, research and development (R&D) and work spaces for office work, and small-scale manufacturing facilities. On the outside of the building, transparent glass is applied to allow the interior storage vehicle exhibition space to be seen from the outside. After completion, it is expected to emerge as a representative landmark in downtown Singapore.

Chairman Chung has refrained from going abroad since the spread of Corona 19. This is the last time that Hyundai announced its Urban Air Mobility (UAM) plan at CES2020 in Las Vegas, USA in January last year.
