Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, the largest sales in the US market in March… SUV Hojo

[뉴스웍스=김남희 기자] Hyundai Motor Company and Kia posted record-breaking sales in the US market last month.

Hyundai Motor Company’s US Sales Subsidiary (HMA) announced on the 1st (local time) that the sales volume in March recorded 75403 units, an increase of 115% compared to the same month last year, through performance data released on its website.

Fleet sales to corporations and car rental companies decreased by 48%, but retail sales to general customers increased by 153%, driving performance.

By model, it was found that Tucson (15,740 units), Avante (12,453 units), and Santa Fe (11,538 units) were sold in the order of the most. The Palisade (9184 units), Kona (11,416 units), and GV80 (1636 units) achieved record-breaking records in monthly sales since their launch.

The GV80 is a model that attracted attention as it was known that the interior was barely damaged even though Tiger Woods, the’Golf Emperor’, suffered a car rollover accident while driving in February.

In terms of sports utility cars (SUVs) alone, it sold 51,116 units (including Genesis), up 141.1% from the same month last year.

Genesis brand sales increased 210.2% to 3006 units.

The total sales volume in the first quarter also increased by 28% compared to the same period last year on the back of the strong performance in March.

By model, Tucson sold 33,147 units, Santa Fe sold 28,570 units, and Avante sold 25,666 units.

SUV sales in the first quarter were 11,5827 units, an increase of 46.4% compared to the same period last year.

HMA said, “It was the best month in modern history.”

Kia also posted the highest monthly sales in the US market last month.

The sales volume in March was 65,523 units, an increase of 46% compared to the same month last year.

By model, there were K3 (1459 units), Sportage (9471 units), and K5 (8717 units) in that order. Seltos (6497 units) set the record for the most monthly sales ever. In terms of SUVs alone, it was 41,033 units, an increase of 66.1% from the same month last year.

The total sales volume in the first quarter was also a record high of 159550 units. K3 sold 24,850 units, Sportage sold 24,417 units, and K5 sold 2394 units, and SUV sales increased 25.2% compared to the same period last year.
