Hyundai Motor Company and Kia and Grace Brothers, a global delivery platform company, cooperate to research and develop a delivery logistics robot.

On the 19th, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 19th that they signed a’MOU for research and development in the field of shipping robotic mobility and logistics’ at Hyundai Motor and Kia’s Namyang Research Center with their elegant brothers.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by officials from both companies, including Park Jung-guk, head of Hyundai Motor Research & Development Division, and Oh Se-yoon, the elegant brothers and chief strategy officer (CSO).

Through the signing of this MOU, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia elegant brothers will continue to make efforts in various fields to develop robotic mobility for unmanned delivery service and advance smart logistics business using robots.

The two companies will put the robots developed through collaboration into the delivery and logistics sites, and improve technology and services through demonstration operations in various mobile environments.

Hyundai Motor Company and Kia will develop a robotic mobility platform capable of indoor and outdoor delivery based on the advanced robotics technology that has been accumulated so far, and establish an integrated mobility management and control system.

The elegant brothers use the robotic mobility platform of Hyundai Motor Company and Kia to operate the robot delivery service linked with the company’s customer order system. In particular, it will expand the use of robotic mobility in the’quick commerce’ business such as food delivery, shared kitchen, and immediate delivery service of daily necessities.

Through cooperation, the two companies will develop a robot that is optimized for the movement of buildings with various structures, a robot that can provide payment services, and a robot that can move between floors in a multi-story building such as an apartment.

In addition, the two companies lead smart logistics in everyday life by developing unmanned delivery solutions based on operation information collected during the delivery process and developing dedicated robots specialized for each space such as residential and logistics sites.

An official from Hyundai Motor Company and Kia said, “As the demand for non-face-to-face services in our daily lives increases, the need for delivery robots is gradually increasing. We plan to increase the quality of our products and contribute to the establishment of mobility services for humanity.”

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group recently introduced a service robot’DAL-e (Dal-i)’ to the automobile exhibition hall to show a robot technology specialized for customer response, and is also taking the lead in the development of industrial and medical robots.

In addition, the Hyundai Motor Group is actively engaged in cooperation with various companies possessing domestic and foreign robot technology to expand the technology base in the robotics field as well as cooperate with elegant brothers.

Last year, it announced that it would acquire a stake in Boston Dynamics, an American robotics company, from Softbank Group.
