Like to visit Singapore Global Innovation Center
Also pay attention to meeting local government and industry officials
According to industry sources on the 20th, Chairman Chung is expected to visit the construction site of the Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS) as early as next week to check the progress.
If the visit is successful, it will be the first overseas business run after the inauguration of the chairman. It has been 11 months since he has refrained from overseas business trips due to the spread of Corona 19.
HMGICS, which aims to be completed by the end of 2022, is an open innovation base (Open Innovation Lab) that studies and demonstrates the entire value chain (value chain) of the customer’s vehicle life cycle, from car orders to production, test drive, delivery, and service.
In October last year, Hyundai Motor Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for HMGICS by connecting the Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Namyang Research Center and Jurong Town Hall in the Jurong area in western Singapore through video. At first, Chairman Chung read a welcome speech in Korea considering the corona situation while trying to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for HMGICS held in Singapore.
HMGICS is expected to be built in Singapore’s Jurong Innovation Complex with a site of 44,000m2, a total floor area of 90,000m2, and 7 stories above ground.
In addition to on-site inspections, there is also a possibility that Chung will meet with Singaporean government officials and related industries to discuss global cooperation. Chairman Chung participated in the US International Electronics Show (CES) in January last year, introduced Hyundai’s smart mobility solution, and participated as co-chairman at the General Assembly of the Hydrogen Committee held in Paris, France. Has been shown.
However, in the aftermath of the coronavirus outbreak, they have refrained from going abroad since March. It is reported that the most recent overseas schedule was to attend the reception of the National Governors Association’s Winter Conference held at the Korean Embassy in Washington, DC in February last year, and discuss the future hydrogen society vision with the governors.
