Hyundai Mobis manages genuine product certification with blockchain technology

Hyundai Mobis will apply blockchain technology to the genuine product certification management system.

On the 3rd, Hyundai Mobis announced that it built a new data-based integrated information system’MAPS (Most Advanced Parts System)’ and operated it from this year in order to increase the efficiency of supplying after-sales service (AS) parts to Hyundai and Kia. Revealed.

This system will be used by over 100,000 people, including 35,000 domestic parts agencies and maintenance shops, including distribution centers, and dealers in over 200 countries, for parts purchase, logistics, and quality control.

Blockchain technology is introduced as a pilot in the genuine product authentication management system. The goal is to block’fake parts’ and improve the quality of AS parts. Distributed management of the genuine information produced at each distribution stage allows the final consumer to check whether the product is genuine by scanning the QR code on the product packaging.

In the future, blockchain will be used in areas such as vehicle maintenance and insurance that require transparency of AS parts information. When a vehicle is stocked at a repair shop, simply by scanning the vehicle number, the necessary parts can be found or the maintenance details can be transmitted to the customer. General vehicle owners will also be provided with a car account book type maintenance function that manages the maintenance history with a mobile app.

Machine learning was also applied to Maps. It is a method that analyzes over 50 variables to determine and inform in advance of sudden changes in the global logistics environment and stocks. Through this, it is possible to predict in advance whether the supply of parts will be delayed.

Lee Sang-yeol, vice president of MAPS TFT at Hyundai Mobis, said, “We preemptively introduced new IT technologies such as the 4th industry to provide improved after-sales service to customers using global Hyundai and Kia. We will strive to build a logistics platform specialized in the company.”
