30% improvement in power generation efficiency compared to the existing sectional type

Hyundai Energy Solution (322000)Announced on the 7th that it has developed and commercialized the world’s first double-sided solar power solution for soundproof tunnels.
The two-sided solar solution for soundproof tunnels developed this time has improved the power generation efficiency by more than 30% compared to the existing single-sided type, and the solar module is manufactured as an integrated type that not only generates power but also plays a soundproof role, significantly reducing installation costs.
Along with this, Hyundai Energy Solutions has also developed a double-sided solar solution for soundproof walls with 30% improved power generation efficiency. Hyundai Energy Solution, as the leading agency of the national project of’Development of commercialization technology for double-sided photovoltaic modules (p-type)’, has been carrying out tasks with domestic companies and research institutes since 2018. We installed a demonstration facility of the company, and recently completed the performance evaluation successfully.
Soundproof tunnels and soundproof walls on the road are attracting attention recently as eco-friendly solar power generation spaces that do not affect the surrounding natural scenery. In fact, solar power generation facilities are installed in soundproof facilities in some sections of the Yeongdong Expressway and Seoul Dongbu Expressway to generate electricity.
If this solution is applied to about 19,000 km of highways and general national roads where soundproof tunnels and soundproof walls are easily installed out of about 110,000 km of total roads in Korea (according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport), electricity can be supplied to 3 million households at the same time. It is possible to produce 11GW of electricity.
Since 2019, Hyundai Energy Solutions has been carrying out a 24MW-class roof-type solar power generation project at the driving test site of Hyundai Motor’s Ulsan plant, and is developing various solar power application solutions such as farming type and integrated building type.
