Developed the world’s first’double-sided solar solution for soundproof tunnels’

The double-sided solar solution for soundproof tunnels has improved power generation efficiency by more than 30% compared to the existing single-sided type. In addition, the installation cost is greatly reduced as the solar module is manufactured as an integrated type that plays both power generation and sound insulation roles.
Hyundai Energy Solutions also developed a double-sided solar solution for soundproof walls with a 30% improvement in power generation efficiency.
Hyundai Energy Solutions is the leading agency of the national project,’Technology development for commercialization of double-sided power generation photovoltaic modules’, and recently completed a performance evaluation by installing an 85kW (kilowatt) demonstration facility in Eumseong Plant in Chungbuk in May last year.
Hyundai says that if this solution is applied to about 19,000 km of highways and general national roads where soundproof tunnels and sound barriers are easy to install among all roads in Korea, it is possible to generate 11GW (gigawatt) of electricity that can simultaneously supply electricity to 3 million households. Energy Solutions reported.
An official at Hyundai Energy Solutions said, “We will develop various solutions through continuous research and development (R&D) investments to accelerate our global renewable energy business orders.”
