Hwang Hee-chan (25)’s team Leipzig (Germany) was defeated by Liverpool (England) and was eliminated in the European Football Federation (UEFA) Champions League (UCL) round of 16.

Leipzig lost 0-2 to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Manet in the second leg of the 2020-21 UCL Round of 16 against Liverpool held at the Fuskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary on the 11th (Korean time).

Leipzig, who had lost 0-2 in the first game held in the same place on February 17, lost a total of 0-4, and their advance to the quarterfinals was canceled. Leipzig could not continue the momentum of advancing to the UCL semifinals last season.

Leipzig striker Hwang Hee-chan stepped on the ground with a 15-minute substitution in the second half, when he was tense at 0-0, but could not raise the attack point.

Liverpool struck Leipzig strongly from the beginning of the game, but they couldn’t score because they were saved by opposing Gulag Peter.

In the 19th minute of the first half, the header of Diogo Jota was blocked by Peter’s save, and 5 minutes later, Sala’s shot from the counterattack was also cleared by Peter.

Leipzig, who was being dragged, introduced Hwang Hee-chan in the second half of the 15th minute to change his tactics.

Hwang Hee-chan created an opportunity by moving actively after entering the substitution. In the 18th minute of the second half, he shot a left footed medium-range shot from the left side of the penalty box, but went over the goal.

One minute later, Hwang Hee-chan’s cross was connected by Alexander Sørlot with a header, but it was hit by the crossbar.

Having escaped from the crisis, Liverpool immediately counterattacked, scoring consecutive goals and seizing the victory.

After receiving a pass from the steering in the 25th minute of the second half, Salah shook the net with a powerful left-footed shot. Four minutes later, Manet finished the cross of Divok Origi and ran 2-0.

Eventually, Liverpool managed to keep the lead well until the end and made it to the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the match was scheduled to be held in Anfield, Liverpool, UK, but the venue was changed due to measures to quarantine the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). The first match was held at the Fuskas Arena.
