The certification center was designated as a central patient safety center according to the revision of the 「Patient Safety Act」 and is carrying out policies of the central administrative agency for patient safety. The first designated and operated regional patient safety center from 2021 maximizes the characteristics and expertise of the designated institution. Therefore, projects to induce voluntary patient safety activities for patients and health care institutions will be carried out.

As a partner of the Central Patient Safety Center to create a safe medical environment, the Regional Patient Safety Center plays a role of effectively delivering and supporting related policies, such as revitalizing patient safety accident reporting, improving the effectiveness of the feedback system, and forming a patient safety culture.

Director Lim Young-jin said, “The Regional Patient Safety Center fills the gaps in the medical environment so that both patients and medical staff can be safe, and carefully counts the medical environment in the blind spot, prevents possible patient safety accidents, and is important for the formation of a patient safety culture. It is an institution that plays a role,” he said. “For the improvement of patient safety and a systematic patient safety management system in Korea, a win-win cooperation system between the central patient safety center and regional patient safety center is important, and we will continue to actively communicate and cooperate for this. said.
