In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Asan Chung Ju-young, the honorary chairman of Hyundai Group, the family of the owners of Pan-Hyundai gathered at the old home of the honorary chairman of Cheong Undong, Seoul.
The families of the Hyundai family held a ritual at their old home in Cheongun-dong on the afternoon of the 20th, a day before the 20th anniversary of Chung’s honorary chairman. This year’s ritual was made simple by dividing time zones for each participant in accordance with the Corona 19 Prevention Guidelines, and performing rituals one after the other.
Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun, the eldest son of Honorary Chairman Chung, visited his home first. Chairman Chung arrived at 4:30 pm with his wife, Ji-seon Ji-seon, to commemorate the deceased. Since then, Chung Mong-joon, the chairman of the Asan Foundation, Jeong Sung-sung, an advisor to Innocean, the couple of the president of Daejeon Sun Hospital, Sang-hoon Jeong, Hyundai Maritime Chairman Chung Mong-yoon, and Hyundai Heavy Industries vice president Jeong Ki-sun attended the rites one after another.
The late Mong-Woo Chung, the wife of former Hyundai Aluminum Chairman Mong-Woo Chung, former announcer Hyun-Jung Roh, daughter-in-law, former announcer Jung Il-sun, Hyundai B&G Steel President, Mong-il Chung, CEO of Hyundai Corporate Finance, Hyundai Group Chairman Hyun Jung-eun, and Halla Group Chairman Chung Mong-won, followed. Chung Mong-koo, honorary chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, was absent from the ceremony this year following last year.
In the 20th anniversary, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled the interior of the Cheongundong home where Honorary Chairman Chung lived. Cheongundong’s home is the place where Honorary Chairman Chung lived for 38 years, and is a symbolic place in the modern district. In the published photo, the young jeong of Ms. Han Sung-sil, the mother of Honorary Chairman Chung, is placed on the left side of the screen, centering on the first floor ritual statue. On the left wall, photos of Honorary Chairman Chung and Ms. Byeon Joong-seok are hung side by side.
In the courtyard quarry,’Yangsan Dongcheon’ means’the sunny place of Mt. Inwang and the scenery is beautiful enough to live in’, and’Namgeoyugeo,’ meaning’the house where the husband Jang Ho-jin resides’. (南渠幽居)’ is engraved. The Cheongundong home was inherited by Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-koo in 2001 and handed over the ownership to Chairman Eui-seon Eui-seon in 2019.
It is known that the Hyundai family members including Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun visited Seonyeong-do, Changwoo-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. An official from the group explained, “Every year, employees of each group also visited Sunyoung to visit Sunyoung, but we reduced the scale in consideration of the Corona 19 incident.”
