Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Strategy and Finance finally took off the yoke of multi-homed people. After completing the sale of the house in Uiwang, Gyeonggi-do, which was in possession with Sejong City’s pre-sale rights, he joined the ranks of one-house public officials.

According to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance on the 4th, Deputy Prime Minister Hong last month (December) sold a 130m2 apartment in Uiwang-si for 920 million won.

In July of last year, in line with the government’s regulation of multi-homeowners, it was only five months after it announced that it would sell apartments in Uiwang-si, and it became one home.

Deputy Prime Minister Hong’s sale of houses drew attention to the extent that it emerged as a social issue, in line with the real estate policy implemented by the government. Initially, Deputy Prime Minister Hong attempted to sell the sale right for apartments in Naseong-dong, Sejong-si and the right for sale in Sejong-si, among apartments in Uiwang-si, but was struck by the government’s restrictions on reselling the right to sell in speculation areas. Earlier, on August 27, 2018, the government designated Sejong City as a dumping area, where house prices soared, and implemented measures to restrict the resale of sales rights.

Deputy Prime Minister Hong attempted to sell the apartment in Uiwang as a second best option, but even this was not smooth. The Uiwang house was put out for sale, but this time, the Lease Protection Act, which was introduced in July last year, caught up. The tenant of Uiwangjip said that he would exercise the right to apply for contract renewal in accordance with the Lease Protection Act. According to the Lease Protection Act, the tenant’s contract renewal claim cannot be denied unless the homeowner or family resides, raising concerns that Hong’s sale of apartments in Uiwang City would be eliminated. Deputy Prime Minister Hong is said to have finally supported the eviction support fund in the name of moving expenses to tenants and completed the sale.

It is expected that after becoming one house after twists and turns, Deputy Prime Minister Hong will be able to escape the confines of being a multi-housing public official.

Deputy Prime Minister Hong said on Facebook when the controversy over multi-housing by high-ranking officials arose in July of last year, “As the issue of resolving multi-housing for public officials was raised, as a member of the State Council, I really regretted to the people and acquaintances.” I will put down the yoke that gave me.”
